Çalışma Gaziantep ilinde lise çağında bulunan 625 (14-19 yaş arası) genç üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanması araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen kişisel bilgiler ve geleneksel Türk sporlarına yönelik görüşlerini belirlemeye yönelik yapılandırılmış soruları içeren anket ile elde edilmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde frekans ve yüzdesel oran analizi kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar incelendiği zaman gençlerin en fazla yapmak istedikleri ve ilgilerini çeken sporların kızak sporu ve atlı okçuluk olduğu görülmektedir. Gençler tarafından en az bilinen branşın ise aba güreşi olduğu görülmektedir. Çalışmanın sonucunda gençlerin geleneksel Türk sporlarından bazı branşlar hakkında yeterli bilgi ve farkındalığa sahip olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Gençlerin geleneksel sporlara ilgi ve eğilimlerinin düşük seviyede olduğu ve yapılacak çeşitli uygulamalarla, ilgi ve bilgilenmelerinin sağlanmasının bu sporların gelecek nesillere aktarılmasında önemli bir eksikliği gidereceği kanaatindeyizThis study aims to determine awareness of high school youth to the practice of traditional Turkish sports. The study was conducted on 625 high school youths (aged 14-19) in Gaziantep. The data was collected through a survey, developed by the researchers that aimed to determine their personal information and their inclination to traditional Turkish sports. Frequency and percentage ratio analysis were used for data analysis. After the analysis of the results, it was observed that sledding and mounted archery were the most desired and interesting sports among the participants. It was also seen that the least known and appealing sport was aba wrestling. As a result of the study, it was seen that the youth did not have enough information about and awareness to traditional Turkish sports. We are of the opinion that the youth has inadequate information about and low awareness to traditional Turkish sports; and through some practices, their interest and enlightenment will resolve a crucial deficiency in handing down these sports to next generations.trinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessTürk, Spor, Gençler, Gelenek.Turkish, Sports, Youths, TraditionArticle81566575394920
