Öğe Effect of seasonal variation on lipid and fatty acid profile in muscle tissue of male and female Silurus triostegus(SPRINGER INDIA, 2016) Kacar, Semra; Bashan, Mehmet; Oymak, Seyit AhmetFatty acid (FA) compositions of total lipid, phospholipid (PL) and triacylglycerol (TAG) fractions have been determined in muscle tissues of Silurus triostegus. The distributions of saturated fatty acid (SFA), monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) proportions were found to be different among total lipid, PL and TAG fractions from lipids in muscle tissues of the male and female S. triostegus in all seasons. Triacylglycerol contained a lower proportion of PUFA and a higher proportion of MUFA and SFA than PL while PL contained higher proportion of PUFA than proportion of MUFA and SFA compared to TAG. Triacylglycerol and PL fatty acid compositions in muscle tissues of the male and female fish species were found different. The most abundant fatty acids in the investigated seasons were palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), oleic acid (C18:1 n-9), palmitoleic acid (C16:1 n-7) and docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6 n-3). It was shown that the total lipid content and FA compositions in muscle tissues of the male and female S. triostegus were influenced by reproduction period and season.Öğe The Effects of Various Diets on the Growth and Reproduction of Modicogryllus truncatus (Tarbinsky, 1940) (Orthoptera: Gryllidae)(KAHRAMANMARAS SUTCU IMAM UNIV, 2018) Kacar, Semta; Bashan, MehmetThe effects of various diets on the growth and reproduction of Modicogryllus truncatus (Tarbinsky, 1940) were investigated. The method, based on rearing of the insects on a new diet prepared by discarding one of components from known chemical diet under laboratory condition was used in this study. For this, nymphs were reared separately on three different diets such as stock culture medium containing lettuce, fat-free artificial diet and artificial diet containing wheat germ oil until reaching the adult stage. Average body weights in 30-days old nymphs and 60 days old male and female nymphs and 90-days old male nymphs reared on lettuce were higher than those reared separately on two synthetic diets. But average body weights of nymphs reared on fat-free artificial diet and artificial diet containing wheat germ oil were similar. Insects were reared successfully through two generations on fat-free artificial diet. The hatching percentage of eggs laid by the females reared together with the males on fat-free diet containing vitamin E and wheat germ oil were similar to each other. According to these results, M. truncatus reared on fat-free artificial diet can successfully grow and reproduce.Öğe Fatty Acid Composition of Total Lipid, Phospholipid and Triacylglycerol in The Muscle and Gonad Tissue of Chondrostoma regium(KAHRAMANMARAS SUTCU IMAM UNIV, 2018) Kacar, Semra; Bashan, Mehmet; Oymak, S. AhmetIn this study, muscle and gonad lipids of a freshwater fish. Chondrostoma regium, were examined via gas chromatography. The major fatty acids were palmitic acid (C16:0) (23.29-26.58%) and stearic acid (C18:0) (9.69-11.33%) in saturated fatty acid (SFA), oleic acid (C18: 1n -9) (16.91-19.96%) and palmitoleic acid (C16: 1n-7) (5.30-8.76%) in monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA), aracidonic acid (C20:4n-6) (4.45-9.32W in n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), and eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5n-3, EPA) (3.42-11.56%) docosahexanoic acid (C22:6n-3, DHA) (4.20-13.10%) in n- 3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUPA).Öğe Role of 2.4 GHz radiofrequency radiation emitted from Wi-Fi on some miRNA and faty acids composition in brain(Taylor & Francis Online, 2022) Dasdag, Suleyman; Akdag, Mehmet Zulkuf; Bashan, Mehmet; Kizmaz, Veysi; Erdal, Nurten; Erdal, Mehmet Emin; Tughan Kiziltug, Mehmet; Yegin, KorkutThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi exposure, which is continuously used in the internet connection by mobile phones, computers and other wireless equipment, on microRNA and membrane and depot fatty acid composition of brain cells. Sixteen Wistar Albino rats were divided equally into two groups such as sham and exposure. The rats in the experimental group (n = 8) were exposed to 2.4 GHz RFR emitted from a Wi-Fi generator for 24 h/day for one year. The animals in the control group (n = 8) were kept under the same conditions as the experimental group, but the Wi-Fi generator was turned off. At the end of the study, rats were sacrificed and brains were removed to analyze miRNA expression and membrane and depot fatty acids of brain cells. We analyzed the situation of ten different miRNA expressions and nineteen fatty acid patterns in this study. We observed that long-term and excessive exposure of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radiation increased rno-miR-181a-5p, phosphatidylserine (PS) and triacylglycerol (TAG) in the brain. In conclusion, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi exposure has the potential to alter rno-miR-181a-5p expression and the fatty acid percentage of some membrane lipids such as phospholipid (PL), phosphatidylserine (PS) and triacylglycerol (TAG), which are depot fats in the brain. However, the uncontrolled use of RFRs, whose use and diversity have reached incredible levels with each passing day and which are increasing in the future, may be paving the way for many diseases that we cannot connect with today.Öğe Variations in the fatty acid compositions of the liver and gonad tissue of spiny eel (Mastacembelus mastacembelus) from Ataturk Dam Lake(WALTER DE GRUYTER GMBH, 2017) Kacar, Semra; Bashan, MehmetObjective: The aim of the study was to investigate quantitative and qualitative fatty acid profiles of the gonad and liver tissue of female Mastacembelus mastacembelus (spiny eel). Methods: Total lipids were extracted with 5 mL of chloroform-methanol (2:1 v/v). Samples containing gonad and liver lipid were transesterified with acidified methanol. The fatty acid methyl esters were extracted with hexane. Fatty acids were detected by gas chromatography (GC). Results: The major saturated fatty acids (SFAs) were myristic acid (C14:0), palmitic acid (C16:0) and stearic acid (C18:0) in both gonad and liver tissue. Oleic acid (C18:1 omega-9) and palmitoleic acid (C16:1 omega-7) were the prominent monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA). The dominant polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) were linoleic acid (LA, C18:2 omega-6), arachidonic acid (AA, C20:4 omega-6), docosapentaenoic acid (C22:5 omega-3) and docoesahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6 omega-3). The ratio of omega-3/omega-6 ranged from 1.55 to 3.44 and 1.18 to 2.71 in the gonad and liver tissue, respectively. Conclusion: The findings of this study will be useful for understanding the seasonal distribution of fatty acid composition in the liver and gonad of spiny eel.
