dc.description.abstractOsmanlı Devleti; geniş coğrafyası sebebiyle 19. yüzyılda bir yandan Batı emperyalizminin iştahını kabartırken, diğer yandan yoğun misyonerlik çalışmalarına sahne olmuştur. Bu çalışmalar hem Osmanlı modernleşmesinin bir ayağını oluşturmuş hem de toplumsal çatışmanın da sebeplerinden biri olmuşlardır. Misyonerlik çalışmalarının bu etkileri öncelikle Osmanlı sınırlarında yaşayan Hıristiyan cemaatlerde hissedilmiştir. Bu cemaatlerden biri de Süryani Kadimlerdir. Süryani Kadimler, misyonerlik çalışmalarının hem modernleştirme hem de parçalayıcı tüm etkilerini 19. yüzyıl boyunca yaşamışlardıren_US
dc.description.abstractWhile on the one hand the Ottoman state, because of its vast geography, sharpen the western imperialism’s appetite and on the other hand it became the scene of intensive missionary activities in 19th century. These activities had become both a pillar of the Ottoman modernization and one of the reasons of the social conflict. The effect of these missionary activities first felt over the Christian communities that lived within the boundaries of the Ottoman. One of these communities is Old Syrian. The Old Syrian had lived both all effects of modernizing and separating during the 19th century.en_US
